Atlantic Shore 176x176cm
Dó Felim Egan, Ealaíontóir le Cathal Ó Searcaigh
Dumhach Trá
Tá sé ag siúil na gcladach gach lá
ag bailiú rúin geasa agus diamfra
ó na hÍomhanna
a thig chuige ó bhéal na trá.
Tá sé amuigh ansiúd ag baint sásaimh
as na reanna liatha, as na himeollchríochanna,
atá ag síneadh
idir an saol agus an tsíoraíocht.
Tá sé ag comhrá lena chairde i dteanga na crimseata;
an líne díreach dearfa a shiúlann leis an tslí;
an ciorcal machnamhac súilfhoscailte,
an chearnóg a thugann cothrom na féinne do gach Taobh.
Tá sé ag cuir coiriú ceoil ar dhathanna Dhumhach Trá;
ag déanamh aria mallghluaiste den ghlas;
allegro con brio den ghorm;
agus rondo mórchríoch don bhuí...
Sandymount Strand
He is walking by the shore every day
gathering secret knowledge and mysteries
from the images
that come to him from the lips of the strand.
He is out yonder taking pleasure
from the grey forelands, from the brink of the promontories
that are stretching out
between life and eternity.
He is conversing with his friends in the language of geometry;
the direct line, they say, that goes with him along the way;
the wide-eyed reflective circle,
the square that gives fair play to every side.
He is laying a musical arrangement on the colours of Sandymount Strand;
making a slow-moving aria of the green;
an allegro con brio of the blue;
and a full-hearted rondo of the yellow...
